Forum: GratefulDead Subject: THE WAY IT IS (.....WAS....)

bruce is MILDLY interesting as a piano player and reinvigorated the band with the sound of a person actually MAKING MUSIC with their hands and heart at a time when the group was basically JUST FUCKING AROUND WITH ELECTRONICS... (yeah i'm throwing around "fuck" a lot tonight, i'm tired)

i kind of associate him with the "BRANFORD ERA" and he seemed to fit right in to this short resurgent "real music" period for the band (89/90-90/91...?) when they actually sounded like a unified organism for a minute and NOT A DISCOMBOBULATED piece of electronically modified shit.... flailing button pushing smoke and mirrors junk... (they did suck one big time at the end, tinkly creepy synth burpings from a dying giant, gasping for air)

so yeah, i dont think bruce was so bad.... at least he was real... OH BUT REALLY all that really matters is he knew how it was:

[...]hear about the way it was/is
